Thanksgiving at home

So, Thanksgiving didn't go according to plan. However, it turned out to be a very good one.

On Monday, Roy threw up several times and refused to eat. Dogs throw up occasionally if they eat something bad (rabbit poo) so we thought nothing of it at first. However, this became more frequent and more putrid. It got to the point that he couldn't keep down water.

The next morning he was shaking and still couldn't keep down water, so we took him to the vet. Fortunately it wasn't what we feared: an intestinal blockage. Instead it was a bad GI track infection. The weird thing is that the vet said two other dogs had the exactly same blood panel numbers as Roy. She also said that leaving town would most likely push Roy's recovery back a few days. I'm already Catholic, you don't need to add more guilt, Dr. Johnson.

Anyway, we stayed. Roy is getting better, but is on a lot of meds. Isaac was upset at first, but having a good time on "Mommy home days."

I have lots of pictures to make up for as I haven't posted in a while. Fran and Vern came to visit several weeks ago. I actually have evidence of it this time.

Snow! We had about 7 inches of heavy wet snow.

Stuff snow in the exhaust. This resulted in a discussion on engines.

All I do is Play, Play, Play.

Sick Roy

Happy Thanksgiving! It was 62, so we baked and played.

  1. I love how you find beauty in the little things: the holly bush with snow in this post and the outstanding pumpkin pie you made!

Poor Roy! You did the right thing. He would have been sadder without you.

Yay for Fran and Vern visiting! And yay for nice weather to play outside! Those tracks look cool for inside play!
