Doing okay

Things in general have been pretty good. The kids like the nanny. Work is going well for both Alex and me. The kids are healthy and mostly happy. Asher is going through a sleep regression stage / separation anxiety, so that's something to deal with, but nothing bad.

It's been hot outside, so the kids have been playing a lot. Asher is also going through a "I hate clothes" phase. It's not a big deal as he is two, so we're going with it. The kids have also been playing a lot with the kids from next door. We have them over a lot, which is great as they entertain each other and I can do things like pick up sticks in the yard and unload the dishwasher.

July 4 had a rough start. We attempted to go to the pool, but the roads were closed due to a parade and parking everywhere around the pool was taken. We ended up getting ice cream at the Golden Arches and going to a different playground then blowing up the pool again at home. It was an okay compromise for the kids.

We also did a bit of baking since some bananas were past their prime, which means it is time for banana pancakes or banana bread. We chose the latter and used some almond flour for a deeper flavor. Next time I'll have to remember since there's no gluten it needs more leavening. It was a bit dense, but very tasty. Can you tell Alex has the camera?

Sorry your July 4 didn't go as planned, but I am glad there were some fun things to keep everyone happy, anyway!

I love the picture that Alex took! Shows you have a super sweet fun family dynamic there!
