New Steps & creations

Asher is crawling!!!  He is going forward now.  He can crawl somewhere and pull himself up own his own.  And, damn is he happy about it.  He was so frustrated before and he finally got it.  Alex says his work day is much more interesting now. :-)

And a video for fun.

Also, a note on some homemade things.  I didn't make cookies this year, though Isaac and I have been doing a lot of baking lately.

Instead, I've been making a lavender sugar scrub with organic coconut oil, sugar (white and brown sugar), and lavender essential oil.  It's great for dry hands in the winter time.  But, the really cool thing that I wanted to show was how I make the labels.  I found a pretty design on Pinterest and transferred them to a clear label.  Here's how.  Print off the label, cover with shipping tape, smooth with a hard flat surface, soak in water, peel off the paper, let dry upside down, and stick onto whatever surface you have.  Sometimes I have to rub a bit when peeling off the paper, but it works! I was amazed it did, but here's proof.

Update: I've had a few people ask me for the recipe; here it is.

Lavender Sugar Scrub:
2 Cups softened (almost melted) organic coconut oil
4 Cups white sugar (you could substitute up to 1/4 C brown sugar for color)
25 drops Lavender essential oils (you could use whatever essential oil you prefer, though. Something citrus would be great for this.)

Stir until completely uniform and scoop into jars.

That's it!  This recipe yields 6 half-pint jars.

    2. Abby and I are making some tonight! She used about 1/2 of my jar when she tried it. I don't have any essential oils so we are just making it with the coconut oil and sugar.
