Two month Dr. Visit

I took Isaac to his two month check-up on Friday.  He's 12 lbs 2 oz, which is 50%.  He's also 23 1/2 inches, which is 75%.  Alex was excited that he's above average in height... at least for now.

Unfortunately, the visit came with immunizations.  He received 5 shots.  I understand the importance of immunizations, especially now that once near-extinct diseases are coming back, but five shots were rough on the little guy.  He screamed and screamed.  When the nurse said I could pick him up again I really wanted to say, "Come here, honey. I'll take you away from the mean lady."  But, I didn't.  Instead, I fed him in the Dr's office to calm him and he did well... for a few hours.

Then he woke up and screamed and screamed and screamed.  Let me be clear - this wasn't crying; this was screaming.  I hated to see him in pain.  I ended up calling my sister, Christine, to ask what to do.  After a round of Acetaminophen (Alex had to go to two drug stores to find it,) massaging his thighs, carrying him around in the Bjorn, and holding him close to me, he was out again.
I didn't move for a few hours so he could actually sleep.
Over the next few days, he would wake up and have this look on his face that he was about to scream.  Then he'd calm down and be okay.  We think his little thighs were sore.

He's much better now & already wearing 3-6 month sized outfits. :-)

  1. That seems like a lot of shots. Our pediatrician has combo vaccines, so that even though they get five vaccines, there are only two shots. Something to ask about. My kids have never had more than three shots in one visit, but are always on schedule for their vaccines.

You did great calming him. It's so hard. My most tears as a mom are when I don't know what to do. Sigh.

Love the pictures! Keep them coming!
